A man who spiked sweets with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two boys aged between nine and ten.

The accused was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.

However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.

Ruben was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.

The man played a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.

She explained the man had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the activities, for good reason.

"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel stated materials including lubricant, ointment and syringes were found, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his worries.

She said the defendant went on to play the "candy game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.

"Law enforcement" had not responded by that stage," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.

Mrs Prior stated the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member called the police a second time.

She said Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five children.
